Fire investigators say it may be some time before they determine the cause of Tuesday’s fire that destroyed a Forest River RV plant east of Elkhart, Ind., according to a report by The South Bend Tribune.
Steve Kamp, Elkhart’s assistant fire chief, says investigators could not get into the remains of the large structure on Wednesday due to safety concerns about the possibility of collapsing walls. The factory produced Vibe and Vibe Extreme towable RVs.
No injuries were reported. Forest River has not announced what will happen to displaced workers and whether production will be shifted to other plans.
Several neighboring fire departments assisted the Elkhart Fire Department in battling the blaze.
