The Waterloo Region Record newspaper in Ontario reports that a long-term employment center will open next week to assist employees of Erwin Hymer Group North America (EHGNA) who were laid off when it went into receivership in February.
The province’s Erwin Hymer action center will work in partnership with the local United Way to assist terminated workers in Cambridge and Kitchener, Ontario.
The United Way has a six-month contract with the province to run the center, the newspaper reports. Services include informing former EHGNA employees about retraining and apprenticeship opportunities.
The center will also be open to anyone who lost their job as a result of the receivership, including employees laid off by suppliers or other creditors due to the bankruptcy.
